Not just and old Village Barbecue – This is the Ormside Village BBQ!!
ORMSIDE VILLAGE BARBECUE
Between 5.30pm and 6.00 just half an hour before our annual BBQ the rain started. Families through the parish looked to the heavens and asked the question “Do you really want to go?” Thankfully the answer by in excess of 80 friends and neighbours was – YES WE DO!!
This was a record turnout for the village event, which even though the rain stopped almost immediately, was prudently held indoors.
That most certainly did not dampen any of the enthusiasm as everyone tucked in to the fabulous food, caught up with local gossip and yes most even found time for a glass of wine or beer! a really great evening as the photographs can only hint at.

With Clive and Ian – “beavering away” outside on the barbecue (haven’t their ladies got them well trained??

As the evening drew on – there was time for a raffle, with the customary Lavender Bath Salts as the headline prize – our very own “super-hero” (still very much in uniform) organising the draw.
and then finally – yet another highlight – Evelyn Sowerby has sadly, stood down from the Village Hall Committee after volunteering her time for over 50 years (sorry about being vague, but even Evelyn wasn’t sure how long it actually was!). Our thanks for your enthusiasm – but please make sure that you keep coming to our events!
This was a terrific evening, with so many people involved in the food , the BBQ. the setting up and of course the clearing up – far too many to mention, we might as well publish the electoral role!!
A thank you to everyone – see you all (and anyone else who couldn’t make this event) at our next event – A film Night . See the details “What’s going on in Ormside” tab (above).
