What a great afternoon and evening – even the weather was fantastic.
Last year, you will recall, we were not so fortunate – it rained; but somehow we managed to squeeze the 80 friends and neighbours inside the Hall. This year, that previous record attendance was duly beaten – with the number that turned up, it would have been impossible to seat everybody inside!
At the beginning of year a number of our neighbours were forced into flood repairs, and with the last family returning within the last couple of weeks, the B-B-Q served as an end to that chapter and the start of happier times.
Once again our two top BBQ chiefs “did us proud”, the locally sourced sausages and burgers were cooked to perfection and the accompanying salads and puds were not only plentiful, but also delicious.
The barbecued food (and of course Ian and Clive’s friendly banter) made the wait in the queues worthwhile.
This was a terrific evening, with so many people involved in the food, donating raffle prizes, the BBQ, the setting up and of course the clearing up – far too many to mention, but thank you to all who helped.
Our next Village Hall event is the Quiz Night, followed in October with a Cinema Evening. The dates and details will be published soon.
Starting next week, and continuing each weekend until the end of the August Bank Holiday, we have the now highly popular, series of Village Cream Teas in support of our Church – we look forward to welcoming you all (and of course any friends that you might want to bring along).
