Distance: About 3miles
Highest Point: 594m (1950ft)
A straightforward, and not particularly arduous ….. but certainly enough to get the blood pumping – with the reward of fabulous views from the top
Start from the brilliantly convenient village car park (Grid Ref 730220) to the north of the village and at the base of Murton Pike.

Follow the meandering stone bridleway making sure to take in the scenery of Roman Fell to the East and the smaller Dufton Pike to the West.
As you get higher the view becomes even more spectacular and then you’re ready for the final assault to the peak!!

Now that you’ve got there, take in the views – the beautiful High Cup Nick to the North East (see a later ramble) and South back though the Eden Valley.
Enjoy the views, they’re spectacular – then just amble back down – possibly via a local hostelry to enjoy a well earned drink! (Unfortunately there is not a pub in Murton Village).
