“Simply – one of the best films I’ve ever seen” (editor)
The Theory Of Everything tells the story of Stephen Hawkins, still considered one of the greatest intellects of our time, a brilliant and much admired, scientist who brought his groundbreaking ideas to the world through his bestselling “A Brief History of Time”.
Meeting within two minutes of the film, Hawkins (Eddie Redmayne) a hunched, jaunty doctoral student in 1963 Cambridge; Jane’s (Felicity Jones) a friendly fellow student preparing for a PhD in medieval poetry.
Already wobbly on his feet, he has a terrible accident, falling crumpled and prone onto Trinity Hall’s flagstones. Diagnosed with motor neurone after this collapse, Hawking was initially given two years to live. But for the next 30, until their divorce in 1995, Jane devoted the best part of her life to looking after him and their three children.
This film is one of the few that thoroughly deserve its acclaim – it lives up to all its hype!
