Ormside Cinema – Presents The Lady in the Van

Our 3rd film presentation for Ormside Village Hall Cinema

THE LADY IN THE VAN

Screen Shot 2016-01-02 at 15.12.54

Cert 12A, Time: 104 mins

This is a true and extremely amusing story (first bought to the west-end stage) stars Maggie Smith, Alex Jennings and Jim Broadbent.

Two-time Oscar winner, Dame Maggie Smith recreates one of her most celebrated roles as  Miss Shepherd –in The Lady in the Van – Alan Bennett’s big-screen comedic adaptation of his own iconic memoir and stage play.

Miss Shepherd was a woman of uncertain origins who “temporarily” parked her van in Alan Bennett’ s London driveway and proceeded to live there for 15 years. What began as a begrudged favour became a relationship that would change both their lives.

Unsurprisingly, Maggie Smith has been nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – it’s a heart-warming comedy which portrays the best (and worst) of people.
